Forms Of Hair Loss Treatment DE

By Mark Patterson

There are some forms of hair loss which are temporary, such as that which results because of chemotherapy. Other forms are permanent like when it happens because of old age. This might not need treatment. The loss of hairs may cause emotional distress which is why many individuals will seek treatment. In consideration of hair loss treatment DE residents have many options available. In some cases, treating the underlying cause of baldness will revive hair regrowth and solve the problem.

The use of medications is one of the ways to get treatment. An example of a medication is known as minoxidil and is approved by the FDA. It is in lotion form and can be used by both men and women. It is purchased from pharmacies without prescription. It is supposed to be applied on the scalp daily. Stronger versions have been found to be more effective than mild ones.

When stronger versions are used, there is possibility of side effects like itchiness or dryness of the areas affected. The medication needs to be used over a number of months so that results are realized. Balding will resume in the event that usage is stopped. If there was any hair re-growing, it falls two months after treatment stops. The other medication that can be used is finasteride, but it is for men only. It is available on private prescription and comes as a tablet which is taken daily.

It works by preventing the hormone testosterone from getting converted into another hormone, dihydro-testosterone. The latter hormone leads to shrinking of follicles and as a result blocking its production ensures follicles get back to normal size. After the procedure, results are noticed after 3 to 6 months. Balding will resume after some months if treatment is stopped. It is not common to experience side effects but there is possibility of low sex drive and erectile dysfunction. These are rare effects.

The other option is to go for surgery. This is usually the option for people with male pattern baldness or female pattern baldness. Surgical procedures are considered when less invasive options have failed to yield results. Success of surgery depends on the surgeon carrying out the procedure. There is the possibility of complications, as is the case of any surgical procedure.

One can consider hair transplant. In this, local anesthesia is used. There will be removal of a small scalp piece from an area with lots of hair. That piece will be divided into single hairs or groups of hairs which are then grafted onto areas with no hairs. Transplanting is done over several sessions. The sessions should be 12 months apart.

The other option is scalp reduction which involves removing pieces if bald scalp from the top of the head. It is done to move sections that are hairy adjacent to each other. This is done through cutting loose skin before the scalp is stitched back together. This can also be done through tissue expansion.

Tissue expansion is whereby there is placement of a balloon under the scalp. The balloon is inflated over a couple of weeks to expand the skin in stages before it is removed. This is a procedure that is designed for female baldness.
